Cheeseburger Burrito (Animal Style): The Ultimate Comfort Food Mashup
Ingredients (Makes 4 Large Burritos)
For the beef:
1 lb (450 g) ground beef (80/20 preferred)
Salt & pepper to taste
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
Optional: 1 tbsp yellow mustard for the beef while cooking
For the caramelized onions:
1 medium onion, chopped
2 tbsp butter
1 tsp sugar
Pinch of salt
For the special sauce (Animal Style sauce):
½ cup mayonnaise
2 tbsp ketchup
2 tbsp sweet pickle relish
1 tsp white vinegar
½ tsp sugar
Optional: ½ tsp mustard Other fillings:
1½ cups shredded cheddar or American cheese
1–2 cups frozen or homemade French fries, cooked and crispy
4 large flour tortillas
Optional: lettuce, tomato slices, pickles
Step-by-Step Instructions
1 Caramelize the Onions
In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter.
Add chopped onions, sugar, and a pinch of salt. Cook slowly for 10–12 minutes, stirring often, until soft and golden. Set aside.
2 Cook the Fries
Prepare your fries (frozen or homemade).
Air-fry or bake until crispy. Salt them lightly once done.
3 Brown the Ground Beef
In a skillet over medium-high heat, add ground beef.
Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and optional mustard.
Cook until browned and no longer pink (about 6–8 minutes). Drain excess grease if needed.
4 Make the Animal-Style Sauce
In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, relish, vinegar, sugar, and mustard. Mix well and refrigerate until ready.
5 Warm the Tortillas
Heat tortillas in a dry pan or microwave until soft and pliable.
6 Assemble the Burrito
Lay each tortilla flat and layer:
A generous spoonful of the special sauce
Ground beef
Caramelized onions
A layer of shredded cheese
Hot, crispy fries
Extra sauce or optional toppings (lettuce, tomato, pickles)
7 Fold and Grill
Fold burrito-style: tuck in the sides, then roll tightly.
Place seam-side down in a skillet and grill over medium heat for 2–3 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
