Ingredients:

  • 4 large eggs
  • 75 grams (1/2 cup + 1 tbsp) all-purpose flour
  • 75 grams (1/3 cup) unsalted butter
  • 60 ml (1/4 cup) milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 70 grams (1/3 cup) sugar

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 320°F and prepare a cake pan by cutting a piece of parchment paper to fit the bottom, then lining the bottom and sides with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until thick and pale.
  3. Sift the flour into the egg mixture and gently fold in until well combined.
  4. In a small saucepan, melt the butter with the milk over low heat, then add in the vanilla extract.
  5. Slowly pour the butter mixture into the batter, folding gently until fully incorporated.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and tap on the counter to remove any air bubbles.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing and transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
