Ingredients:

  • 3 cups of bread flour
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 3/4 cup of warm milk
  • 2 tablespoons of softened butter
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Directions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Add the egg, softened butter, salt, and vanilla extract to the mixture and stir well.
  3. Gradually mix in the bread flour until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-1.5 hours or until it doubles in size.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
  7. Punch down the dough and divide it into small pieces to form dinner rolls.
  8. Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, cover them, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Bake the dinner rolls in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until they turn golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
    Tips:
  • Make sure the milk is not too hot or it will kill the yeast.
  • Don’t skip the second rise as it helps to develop the flavor and texture of the rolls.
  • Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter for a shiny finish.
