Homemade Honey Buttermilk Bread
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 cup of whole wheat flour
- 1 packet of active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 cup of warm water
- 1/4 cup of honey
- 1/2 cup of buttermilk
- 2 tablespoons of butter, melted
Directions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, yeast, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the warm water, honey, and buttermilk until well combined.
- Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients while mixing to form a dough.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased loaf pan, cover, and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
- Bake the bread for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
- Brush the melted butter on top of the bread immediately after removing it from the oven.
