Homemade Hamburger Buns Recipe (The BEST!) – The Frugal Girls
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of warm water (110°F)
- 2 1/4 teaspoons of active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup of canola oil
- 3 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon of salt
Directions:
- In a small bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the yeast mixture, egg, and canola oil.
- Gradually add the flour and salt, mix until dough starts to come together.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal parts. Shape each part into a ball and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Cover the buns with a towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Bake the buns for 12-15 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let them cool before slicing and serving.
Tips:
- For a shiny finish, brush the buns with melted butter after baking.
- You can sprinkle sesame seeds or poppy seeds on top before baking for extra flavor.
