Soft and Fluffy Milk Buns

Soft and Fluffy Milk Buns

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of warm milk
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons of active dry yeast
  • 6 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt
  • 1 egg, beaten

Directions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add in the flour, melted butter, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let it rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and divide it into equal parts. Shape each part into a bun and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Cover the buns with a damp towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Brush the buns with beaten egg and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Allow the buns to cool slightly before serving.
    Tips:
  • Make sure the milk is warm but not hot to avoid killing the yeast.
  • You can customize the buns by adding toppings like sesame seeds or poppy seeds before baking.
  • Store any leftover buns in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
