Fluffy Homemade Burger Buns
Ingredients:
- 1 cup warm milk (microwave for about 45 seconds)
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 egg, beaten
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Sesame seeds, for topping
Directions:
- In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, add the melted butter, beaten egg, flour, and salt. Mix in the yeast mixture until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal parts. Shape each part into a ball and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the buns with some beaten egg and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
- Bake the buns for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Let them cool before slicing and using for your favorite burgers.
Tips:
- Make sure the milk is warm but not hot to the touch to activate the yeast properly.
- You can brush the buns with melted butter after baking for extra shine and flavor.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
