Fluffy Homemade Burger Buns
Ingredients:
- 1 cup warm milk
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 egg, beaten
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Sesame seeds, for topping
Directions:
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
- Mix in melted butter and beaten egg.
- Gradually add flour and salt to the mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal portions. Shape each portion into a ball and place on the prepared baking sheet.
- Cover the buns with a clean kitchen towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Brush the buns with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow the buns to cool before slicing and using for your favorite burgers.
Tips:
- Make sure the milk is warm to activate the yeast properly.
- You can customize the toppings by adding poppy seeds, flaxseeds, or coarse salt instead of sesame seeds.
- These burger buns can also be frozen for later use. Just thaw and reheat before serving.
