Easy 4-Ingredient Bread Rolls
Ingredients
3 cups (375 g) all purpose flour
1 cup (240 ml) warm milk (not hot!)
2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) instant yeast
1 tablespoon sugar
Instructions
1: Activate the Yeast
In a large bowl, mix the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes until the top becomes foamy.
Tip: The milk should be warm to the touch about 100 to 110°F not hot, or it may kill the yeast.
2: Add Flour and Knead
Gradually add the flour to the yeast mixture, stirring with a wooden spoon or using your hands.
When the dough begins to form, transfer it to a floured surface and knead for 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Chef’s Note: The dough should be soft but not sticky. Add an extra tablespoon of flour if needed.
3: First Rise
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
Choose a warm, draft free area like the inside of a turned off oven with the light on.
4: Shape the Rolls
Punch down the dough gently to release air. Divide into 8 to 10 equal pieces and shape into balls.
Place them evenly on a parchment lined baking tray, cover again, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
5: Bake
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Once the rolls have puffed up, bake for 15 to 18 minutes until golden brown on top.
Let them cool slightly before serving. If you like, brush with melted butter for a glossy finish.
