Homemade Honey Buttermilk Bread

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup of whole wheat flour
  • 1 packet of active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 cup of warm water
  • 1/4 cup of honey
  • 1/2 cup of buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons of butter, melted

Directions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, yeast, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix together the warm water, honey, and buttermilk until well combined.
  3. Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients while mixing to form a dough.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased loaf pan, cover, and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
  8. Bake the bread for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Brush the melted butter on top of the bread immediately after removing it from the oven.
  10. Allow the bread to cool before slicing and serving. Enjoy your freshly baked homemade honey buttermilk bread!
    Tips:
  • Make sure your yeast is not expired to ensure proper rising of the dough.
  • You can adjust the amount of honey based on your preference for sweetness.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container to keep the bread fresh.
