Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of warm water (110°F)
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons of active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup of canola oil
  • 3 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of salt

Directions:

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the yeast mixture, egg, and canola oil.
  3. Gradually add the flour and salt, mix until dough starts to come together.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal parts. Shape each part into a ball and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Cover the buns with a towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  9. Bake the buns for 12-15 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven and let them cool before slicing and serving.
    Tips:
  • For a shiny finish, brush the buns with melted butter after baking.
  • You can sprinkle sesame seeds or poppy seeds on top before baking for extra flavor.
