Twisted Doughnuts (Donuts)
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of milk
- 2 teaspoons of active dry yeast
- 1/3 cup of granulated sugar
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 cup of melted butter
- 4 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- Oil for frying
Directions:
- Heat the milk until warm, then add the active dry yeast and let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the sugar, eggs, melted butter, flour, and salt. Mix well.
- Pour in the yeast mixture and knead the dough until smooth. Cover and let it rise for about an hour.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into donut shapes using a donut cutter or two differently sized biscuit cutters.
- Heat the oil in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot to 375°F (190°C).
- Fry the donuts in batches for about 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown. Remove and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
- Allow the donuts to cool slightly before twisting them into fun shapes.
- Serve the twisted doughnuts warm and enjoy!
Tips:
- You can dust the twisted doughnuts with powdered sugar or glaze them with a simple sugar glaze for extra sweetness.
- Be sure to twist the doughnuts while they are still warm and pliable for the best results.
