Soft Milk Bread
Ingredients:
- 1 cup warm whole milk
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp salt
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 egg, beaten
Directions:
- In a bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and a pinch of sugar. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Add the remaining sugar, melted butter, salt, and 2 cups of flour to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
- Gradually add the remaining flour until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into equal parts. Shape each part into a loaf and place them in greased loaf pans.
- Cover the pans and let the dough rise for an additional 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush the beaten egg over the risen loaves.
- Bake the bread for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let them cool before slicing.
Tips:
- Make sure your milk is not too hot or it will kill the yeast.
- You can brush the baked loaves with melted butter for a shiny finish.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
