Simple Homemade Fried Donuts

Simple Homemade Fried Donuts

Recipe:
Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup warm milk
1/4 cup warm water
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1 egg
Oil, for frying
Sugar, for coating

Directions:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, warm water, melted butter, sugar, and egg, stirring well.
Sprinkle the instant yeast over the wet mixture and let it sit for about 5 minutes until slightly foamy.
Add the flour and salt into the bowl, mixing until a soft dough comes together.
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 to 7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
Transfer the dough into a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Once risen, roll out the dough to about 1/2-inch thickness and cut into donut shapes using a cutter.
Heat oil in a deep pot over medium heat.
Fry the donuts a few at a time, turning them once, until golden brown on both sides, about 1 to 2 minutes per side.
Drain the fried donuts on paper towels and immediately coat them in sugar while still warm.
