Simple 3 Ingredient Sponge Cake
This simple sponge cake bakes in just over one hour. The recipe is enough to serve 4 people but you can double the recipe if you are making it for a bigger crowd.
Ingredients
- 5 large eggs
- 1 cup (200g) sugar
- 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until thick and pale in color.
- Gently fold in the flour until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
