Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup warm milk
1/4 cup warm water
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
oil for frying
extra granulated sugar for coating

Directions:
In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt together. In a separate bowl, combine the warm milk, warm water, butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled in size. Once risen, roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thick and cut out donuts with a round cutter. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry the donuts in batches, about 1-2 minutes per side, until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels. While still warm, toss the donuts in granulated sugar until well coated. Serve fresh and enjoy their fluffy sweetness.
