Ingredients
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup butter, melted
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
Directions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and melted butter. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
- Sprinkle the yeast over the milk mixture and let it sit for about 10 minutes, until it becomes foamy.
- Mix in 3 cups of flour and the salt until the dough comes together.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes, adding more flour as needed, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place in a greased baking dish.
- Cover the rolls and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Beat the eggs and brush the tops of the rolls with the egg wash.
- Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes, until they are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Brush the baked rolls with melted butter before serving.
Tips:
- Make sure the milk is not too hot or it will kill the yeast.
- Allow enough time for the dough to rise for soft and fluffy rolls.
- Brushing the rolls with butter after baking will give them a nice shine and extra flavor.
