Honey Butter Milk Buns

Honey Butter Milk Buns
Ultra-soft yeast rolls brushed with honey butter ideal for Easter brunch prep (March 13).

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons yeast
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Directions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and a tablespoon of honey. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add melted butter, the rest of the honey, and egg to the mixture. Stir in flour and salt until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for about 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and divide it into rolls. Place them on a baking sheet, cover, and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the buns for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Brush the warm buns with melted butter before serving.
    Tips:
  • Make sure your milk is warm but not hot to activate the yeast properly.
  • You can brush the buns with additional honey butter after baking for extra sweetness.
  • These buns are best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for a few days.
