Homemade Sweet Dinner Rolls
Sweet Dinner Rolls are a traditional yeast roll with a fluffy and light texture. Made with bread flour, eggs, milk, and butter, this bread recipe is a buttery, tender sweet roll that is perfect for holiday meals. These dinner rolls also make great buns similar to the Hawaiin Sweet Rolls and make great slider rolls.
Ingredients
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1/3 cup honey
- 2 eggs
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
Directions
- In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, melted butter, honey, and eggs. Mix well.
- Add in the flour, salt, and active dry yeast. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into small balls. Place the balls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise again for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes or until they are golden brown.
- Brush the warm rolls with melted butter before serving.
Tips
- Make sure the milk is warm, but not too hot, to activate the yeast properly.
- You can customize these dinner rolls by adding herbs or cheese to the dough for extra flavor.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
