Fluffy Homemade Bread Rolls
Ingredients:
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 tsp salt
Directions:
- In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
- Stir in the vegetable oil and salt.
- Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 8-10 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Cover the pan and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake the bread for 25-30 minutes, or until it is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Remove from the pan and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
Tips:
- Make sure the water you use to dissolve the yeast is at the right temperature – too hot will kill the yeast, and too cold won’t activate it.
- Kneading the dough helps develop the gluten, which gives the bread its fluffy texture.
- Letting the dough rise in a warm place is important for a good rise – a cold environment will slow down the process.
- To test if the bread is done, tap the bottom – if it sounds hollow, it’s ready!
