Doughnuts recipe
Ingredients:
- 3 cups of all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter
- 7 grams of active dry yeast
- 5 tablespoons of granulated sugar
- 1 cup of whole milk
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- Oil for frying
Directions:
- In a small saucepan, heat the milk and butter until the butter is melted. Remove from heat and let it cool until it reaches lukewarm temperature.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
- Pour the lukewarm milk mixture and vanilla extract into the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size.
- On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thickness. Use a doughnut cutter or a glass to cut out doughnuts.
- Place the doughnuts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- In a deep fryer or large pot, heat oil to 375°F. Fry the doughnuts for about 1-2 minutes per side, until golden brown.
- Remove from the oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Allow the doughnuts to cool slightly before coating in sugar or glaze of your choice. Enjoy!
Tips:
- Make sure the milk is not too hot or it will kill the yeast.
- You can customize your doughnuts with different glazes, sprinkles, or fillings.
- For a healthier option, you can bake the doughnuts instead of frying them.
