Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of milk
  • 2 and 1/4 teaspoons of active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup of unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 cup of caramel sauce
  • 1 cup of dark chocolate chips
  • Sea salt for sprinkling

Directions:

  1. Heat the milk until warm, but not boiling. Stir in the yeast and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a separate bowl, cream together the sugar and butter. Then, mix in the eggs.
  3. Gradually add the milk mixture to the sugar mixture, then stir in the flour and salt until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth, then let it rise in a greased bowl for 1-2 hours.
  5. Roll out the dough and cut into circles. Place a dollop of caramel sauce in the center of each circle, then seal the dough around it.
  6. Fry the doughnuts in oil until golden brown, then drain on a paper towel.
  7. Melt the dark chocolate chips and dip the doughnuts in the chocolate. Sprinkle with sea salt.
    Tips:
  • Make sure the caramel sauce is cool before filling the doughnuts to prevent it from melting.
  • You can also sprinkle crushed nuts or sprinkles on top for extra flair.
