Salted Caramel Stuffed Doughnuts
Homemade doughnuts filled with gooey caramel and dipped in dark chocolate guaranteed social media eye candy.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of milk
- 2 and 1/4 teaspoons of active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup of unsalted butter
- 2 large eggs
- 4 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 cup of caramel sauce
- 1 cup of dark chocolate chips
- Sea salt for sprinkling
Directions:
- Heat the milk until warm, but not boiling. Stir in the yeast and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- In a separate bowl, cream together the sugar and butter. Then, mix in the eggs.
- Gradually add the milk mixture to the sugar mixture, then stir in the flour and salt until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth, then let it rise in a greased bowl for 1-2 hours.
- Roll out the dough and cut into circles. Place a dollop of caramel sauce in the center of each circle, then seal the dough around it.
- Fry the doughnuts in oil until golden brown, then drain on a paper towel.
- Melt the dark chocolate chips and dip the doughnuts in the chocolate. Sprinkle with sea salt.
Tips:
- Make sure the caramel sauce is cool before filling the doughnuts to prevent it from melting.
- You can also sprinkle crushed nuts or sprinkles on top for extra flair.
- Enjoy these doughnuts warm for the gooey caramel center!
