Doughnuts recipe

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter
  • 7 grams of active dry yeast
  • 5 tablespoons of granulated sugar
  • 1 cup of whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • Oil for frying

Directions:

  1. In a small saucepan, heat the milk and butter until the butter is melted. Remove from heat and let it cool until it reaches lukewarm temperature.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  3. Pour the lukewarm milk mixture and vanilla extract into the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size.
  6. On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thickness. Use a doughnut cutter or a glass to cut out doughnuts.
  7. Place the doughnuts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. In a deep fryer or large pot, heat oil to 375°F. Fry the doughnuts for about 1-2 minutes per side, until golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  10. Allow the doughnuts to cool slightly before coating in sugar or glaze of your choice. Enjoy!
    Tips:
  • Make sure the milk is not too hot or it will kill the yeast.
  • You can customize your doughnuts with different glazes, sprinkles, or fillings.
  • For a healthier option, you can bake the doughnuts instead of frying them.
