Perfectly Pan-Fried Fish

Perfectly Pan-Fried Fish

Ingredients:

  • 2 fillets of white fish (such as cod, haddock, or tilapia)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Fresh lemon wedges, for serving
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Directions:

  1. Pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels. In a shallow dish, combine the flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  2. Dredge the fish fillets in the seasoned flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
  3. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the fish fillets to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Remove the fish from the skillet and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
  6. Serve the pan-fried fish hot with fresh lemon wedges and a sprinkle of chopped parsley.
    Tips:
  • Make sure to pat the fish dry before dredging in the flour mixture to ensure a crispy crust.
  • Do not overcrowd the skillet when cooking the fish, as this can cause it to steam instead of fry.
  • To check if the fish is cooked through, use a fork to gently flake the fish. It should be opaque and flake easily.
