Moist Chocolate Cake Recipe (with Frosting)
Ingredients:
Dry Ingredients:
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp instant coffee granules
Wet Ingredients: - 2 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
Frosting: - 1 cup butter
- 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch pan.
- In a large bowl, mix together the white sugar, brown sugar, cocoa powder, salt, baking soda, baking powder, flour, and instant coffee granules.
- Add in the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
- Stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool completely before frosting.
Frosting: - In a medium saucepan, melt the butter. Stir in the cocoa powder until smooth.
- Remove from heat and gradually blend in the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until the frosting is smooth and spreadable.
- Spread the frosting over the cooled cake. Enjoy!
Tips:
- For an extra rich flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon or cayenne pepper to the batter.
- Make sure to properly grease and flour the pan to prevent the cake from sticking.
- The instant coffee granules enhance the chocolate flavor of the cake without adding a coffee taste. Don’t skip this ingredient!
- You can also add chocolate chips or nuts to the batter for added texture and flavor.
