Homemade Soft Bread Rolls
Ingredients:
- 300g fresh spinach, rinsed and chopped
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 egg (for filling)
- Salt, to taste
- ½ tsp black pepper, freshly ground
- 250g ricotta cheese
- ½ cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- 1 puff pastry sheet
- 1 egg, beaten with 1 tbsp milk (for egg wash)
- Sesame seeds (optional, for sprinkling)
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté until fragrant.
- Add the chopped spinach to the skillet and cook until wilted. Remove from heat and let cool.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the egg, ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, salt, and black pepper. Stir in the cooked spinach mixture.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a floured surface. Cut the pastry into equal squares.
- Spoon the spinach and cheese mixture onto each square of puff pastry. Roll up the pastry tightly and place seam side down on the prepared baking sheet.
- Brush the tops of the pastry rolls with the egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
Tips
- Feel free to add other ingredients such as sun-dried tomatoes or olives for extra flavor.
- Make sure to properly drain the cooked spinach to prevent the pastry from becoming soggy.
- These puff pastry rolls can be made ahead of time and frozen. Just bake from frozen, adding a few extra minutes to the cooking time.
