Homemade Pizza Dough Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) of active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- 1 cup of warm water (110-115°F)
- 2 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 1 teaspoon of salt
Directions:
- In a small bowl, combine the active dry yeast, sugar, and warm water. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, until the mixture becomes foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, olive oil, and salt. Pour in the yeast mixture and stir until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two equal parts. Roll out each part into a 12-inch circle on a lightly floured surface.
- Preheat your oven to 475°F. Place the rolled-out dough on a pizza stone or baking sheet.
- Add your favorite toppings and bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the toppings are bubbly.
Tips:
- To add extra flavor to your pizza dough, you can mix in herbs or spices like garlic powder, Italian seasoning, or red pepper flakes.
- For a crispy crust, pre-bake the dough for 5-7 minutes before adding the toppings.
- If you prefer a thicker crust, let the dough rise for an additional 30 minutes before baking.
