Homemade cinnamon rolls: soft, fluffy, gooey, DELICIOUS
Ingredients:
For the dough:
- 1 cup of warm milk (around 110°F)
- 2 1/4 teaspoons of active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup of melted unsalted butter
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 4 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
For the filling: - 1 cup of packed light brown sugar
- 2 1/2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon
- 1/3 cup of unsalted butter, softened
For the cream cheese icing: - 4 oz of cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup of unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup of powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Directions :
- In a small bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, mix together sugar, melted butter, eggs, salt, and yeast mixture.
- Slowly add in the flour and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar and cinnamon for the filling.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread softened butter on top, and sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Roll up the dough tightly and cut into 12 rolls.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and bake the cinnamon rolls for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- While the rolls are baking, prepare the cream cheese icing by mixing cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Once the rolls are done, let them cool slightly before spreading the cream cheese icing on top.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Tips :
- Make sure your yeast is fresh for the best rise.
- You can add nuts or raisins to the filling for extra flavor.
- If you prefer a less sweet icing, you can reduce the amount of powdered sugar.
