  • 2 1/4 teaspoons of active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup of melted unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 4 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
    For the filling:
  • 1 cup of packed light brown sugar
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup of unsalted butter, softened
    For the cream cheese icing:
  • 4 oz of cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup of unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup of powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Directions :

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mix together sugar, melted butter, eggs, salt, and yeast mixture.
  3. Slowly add in the flour and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar and cinnamon for the filling.
  7. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread softened butter on top, and sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  8. Roll up the dough tightly and cut into 12 rolls.
  9. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and bake the cinnamon rolls for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  11. While the rolls are baking, prepare the cream cheese icing by mixing cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  12. Once the rolls are done, let them cool slightly before spreading the cream cheese icing on top.
  13. Serve warm and enjoy!
    Tips :
  • Make sure your yeast is fresh for the best rise.
  • You can add nuts or raisins to the filling for extra flavor.
  • If you prefer a less sweet icing, you can reduce the amount of powdered sugar.
