Homemade Delicious Chocolate Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • For frosting:
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
  4. Stir in boiling water to the batter until smooth.
  5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans and bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. For the frosting, heat the heavy cream in a saucepan until it begins to simmer.
  8. Remove from heat and stir in the chocolate chips until smooth and shiny.
  9. Let the frosting cool for 15 minutes before spreading it over the cooled cakes.
  10. Decorate with sprinkles, if desired, and enjoy!

Tips:

  • Make sure all your ingredients are at room temperature before starting the cake batter.
  • Sift the cocoa powder to avoid lumps in the batter.
  • Do not overmix the batter once the wet and dry ingredients are combined.
  • For a richer flavor, substitute some of the boiling water with hot coffee.
