Perfectly Pan-Fried Fish
Ingredients:
- 2 fillets of white fish (such as cod, haddock, or tilapia)
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Fresh lemon wedges, for serving
- Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Directions:
- Pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels. In a shallow dish, combine the flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Dredge the fish fillets in the seasoned flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium-high heat.
- Add the fish fillets to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove the fish from the skillet and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
- Serve the pan-fried fish hot with fresh lemon wedges and a sprinkle of chopped parsley.
Tips:
- Make sure to pat the fish dry before dredging in the flour mixture to ensure a crispy crust.
- Do not overcrowd the skillet when cooking the fish, as this can cause it to steam instead of fry.
- To check if the fish is cooked through, use a fork to gently flake the fish. It should be opaque and flake easily.
