A Classic Homemade Chocolate Cake
Ingredients:
- 1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
Directions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
- Stir in the boiling water, the batter will be thin but that is normal.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans and bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove from oven and let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Tips:
- Make sure all your ingredients are at room temperature before beginning the recipe.
- For an extra moist cake, try adding a cup of sour cream to the batter.
- Frost with your favorite icing or simply dust with powdered sugar for a simple finish.
